Townsville City Council is the latest Govt Dept to switch to No BuTTs Eco-Pole Wall & Post-mounted Ashtrays.
Townsville City Council has chosen No BuTTs Eco-Pole Wall and Post-mounted Ashtrays for installation at the Flinders Street Redevelopment Project, in final stages
of redevelopment.

Natasha Newman of T.C.C. Infrastructure Services confirmed their order for 26 Eco-Pole Ashtrays to be installed along Flinders Street, with all installations expected to be completed in early September.

"The Flinders Street Redevelopment Project is the biggest infrastructure upgrade in Townsville's history and it's going to be a sensational improvement for residents and tourists alike." said Natasha.

"Townsville City Council is paving the way for the pedestrian mall in Flinders Street to become a bustling city heart. The new Flinders Street will be a retail and entertainment precinct that boasts a dynamic, fresh and people-friendly atmosphere."

"Council is determined to get things right so we evaluated many different types of Stainless Steel Ashtrays before selecting No BuTTs Eco-Pole Ashtrays. But in the end the choice was easy and the No BuTTs Eco-Pole Ashtrays stood out with their design and aesthetics and also the ingenious emptying system which will only take our maintenance staff a few seconds per ashtray to empty."

"One of the features that the Eco-Pole Wall & Post-mounted Ashtrays offered over and above all the others is that they are completely trash and litter proof and the only thing that can actually be placed in them is cigarette butts - and that's exactly the way we want it to be, because people can't use ashtrays if they're clogged and jammed with paper waste and litter."

"This is a $57 million dollar investment by Townsville City Council in the future of their city and we're thrilled that after considering all the alternatives, TCC have chosen No BuTTs Eco-Pole Ashtrays to protect their development and the environment - and provide smokers with the ability to safely and easily dispose of their cigarette butts." said No BuTTs Managing Director, Jack Jacobson.

"Townsville is a gorgeous city and their administrators exemplify the realistic approach to the fact that people do smoke, and if infrastructure is not provided to assist smokers to do the right thing with their butts, cigarette butt litter is inevitable."

"In a perfect world, people wouldn't smoke, but they do." said Jack. "It amazes me that there are some councils, shires and counties, that as a result of some misguided PC approach to the issue of smoking, have or intend to implement blanket No Smoking laws in areas that they know people are inevitably going to smoke."

"Most smokers like to be responsible with their cigarette butts so it makes sense to assist them to do the right thing."

"We actually had a call the other day from another council looking for solutions to their growing problem of cigarette butt litter in their CBD."

"As soon as I advised the installation of wall & post-mounted ashtrays, they told me that "they'd had them - but the Mayor is a serious anti-smoker and had them removed."

"..and they're wondering why their cigarette butt litter problem has gone through the roof..."

"We call this behaviour an 'Ostrich Alert' because it's idiotic to think that by simply removing ashtrays, smokers are going to stop smoking."

"By providing Designated Smoking Zones with effective and problem free cigarette butt receptacles, Townsville City Council is giving smokers the ability to do the right thing with their butts - and that's good for all and great for the environment."
